Primary Function

 

The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting the Controller in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the accounting systems, in order to control the company’s assets and provide complete and accurate financial information and records.  Must be able to report to and split time between Downey and Santa Ana Office. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

The Assistant Controller responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1.          Manages staff to ensure efficient processing of information consistent with proper internal controls

2.          Develops direction for the functional area reporting to the position.

3.          Assists the Controller in development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures.

4.          Prepares reports that outline the company’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and future operations.

5.          Reviews, analyzes and interprets all financial and budgetary reports, making recommendations to senior management, and directs preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

6.          Manages staff to ensure efficient processing of information consistent with proper internal controls.

7.          Assists the Controller in development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures.

8.          Prepares necessary schedules and reports for government agencies

9.          Arranges for audits of the company’s accounts and establishes necessary controls to safeguard the company’s assets.

10.      Interfaces with independent auditors, government auditors and senior management

 

Job Requirements

 

1.         Baccalaureate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, CPA required

2.         At least 5 years of management experience required

3.         Qualified candidates must have a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferably within large to mid size public companies.

4.         Experience within the healthcare industry is a plus.
