Assistant Controller National Facilities Services Oakland, CA Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Assistant Controller to coordinate, administer, and control accounting operations. Provides tax and other reports required by governmental regulations. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets financial and budgetary reports. Directs all aspects of accounting operations. Participates in the development of financial accounting systems required to maintain reporting requirements. Ensures an adequate SOX control environment for all transactions processed, including adequate segregation of duties. Other responsibilities include oversight of account analysis work, preparing account reconciliations, preparing accounting statements and reports, and periodic filings. Resolves accounting matters with other Accounting members, departments, locations and divisions. Insures that Accounting policies and procedures are followed to ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Insures that NFS Policies and Procedures are accurate and updated in a timely manner. Essential Functions: Directs all aspects of accounting operations Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function Ensures an adequate SOX control environment for all transactions processed, including adequate segregation of duties Ensures that Accounting policies and procedures are followed to ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles Responsible for National Facilities Services Policies and Procedures Department Provide interpretation and analysis of GAAP, Uniform Accounting Policies and NFS Policies and Procedures Be able to solve complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of Kaiser Permanente Construction accounting experience CIP/WIP and Fixed Assets experience Experience in a matrixed environment Be able to solve complex issues Excellent communication skills Knowledge of Kaiser Permanente helpful Skills: MS Office Suite Advanced Excel skills PowerPoint Working knowledge of GAAP Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - 10 years of accounting experience. - Requires knowledge of own area of functional responsibility and working knowledge of multiple related functions. - 5 years of experience in Accounting Management in health care or other large financial organizations. - 4 year degree in Accounting/Finance with audit accounting management experience. - CPA (active preferred).
