Assistant Controller recruitment
Job Responsibilities:
Direct, lead and participate in all corporate accounting functions for Payless ShoeSource and all of its entities and business units. Includes operational accounting; international accounting for Payless' worldwide sourcing organization and international retail and franchising operations; Sarbanes-Oxley risk and controls framework; intercompany accounting; financial systems; varied internal consulting, both within Finance (Planning, Treasury, Tax, capital structure, etc.) as well as cross-functionally (Law, HR, IT, Supply Chain, and others). Inventory accounting/control may be assigned as a responsibility of this position depending on the selected candidate's experience and expertise.
Qualifications:
Required Prior Work Experience:
- Minimum of seven years relevant work experience
- Preferred candidate will have at least five years of public accounting experience with a national accounting firm. Corporate accounting and reporting experience preferred but not required
- Prior experience managing a staff of accounting professionals and interacting with Senior Management
- Leadership position in the corporate accounting/finance function of a large, multi-unit retail corporation preferred
- Mergers and acquisitions experience from a finance/accounting perspective and/or International experience is a significant plus
Required Education, Technical Knowledge, Specific Course Work or Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Technical knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements
- CPA certification and comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Expertise in financial systems. Prior experience in financial/accounting system implementation and/or upgrades
