The School of Architecture at Syracuse University is seeking an Assistant Dean for Advancement. Reporting to the Dean and the Assistant Vice President for Development of the University, the Assistant Dean for Advancement will be responsible for crafting a vision for long range planning, managing advancement operations and outreach, with a focus on major gift fundraising. The successful candidate will be responsible for all development and fundraising activities, and will have a personal caseload of approximately 150 donors and prospects. Significant travel is required. The Assistant Dean will also manage the school’s advisory board in consultation with the Dean. The position is supported by a development associate and will partner with staff and faculty colleagues both within the School and in the University’s central development offices.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in the field of higher education advancement at peer institutions, or cultural institutions such as museums and other not for profit organizations, with a documented track record and significant experience in soliciting and closing major gifts. Exceptional speaking and writing skills are essential as well as an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A master’s degree and 5 - 10 years experience in institutional advancement are preferred.
