Assistant General Counsel

Attorney manages a team of attorneys and paralegals and serves as a senior legal advisor to enterprise senior management. Duties include (i) allocating work to and managing a team of attorneys and paralegals to assure effective delivery of legal support and management of client relationships for the businesses and support functions within area of responsibility; (ii) assisting in strategic planning and policy setting for enterprise employment-related activities (iii) identifying and analyzing complex legal issues, developing conclusions and making recommendations for issue resolution; (iv) supporting internal and external examinations, investigations, and relevant litigation proceedings; (v) following and ensuring consistent application of Legal Group policies and procedures to manage Wells Fargos legal matters, outside counsel, and legal expenses; (vi) assisting in driving the Law Department to provide expert, creative, timely, and consistent support for the legal needs of all Company businesses and support functions and collaborates with other Law Department leaders in doing so; (vii) participating as a member of the Enterprise Services Divisions leadership team. ***Interviews will be held in Minneapolis, MN on March 27th*** Basic Qualifications: 10+ years corporate legal experience and 4+ years management experience. Juris Doctorate. Minimum Qualifications: Experience leading and managing one or more legal sections and managers with staff representation across multiple geographic locations. Ability to lead and manage remotely across geographic locations. Ability to lead and motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment. Experience in managing a budget. Ability to make complex decisions. Ability to develop and execute business vision, strategies and goals to achieve corporate objectives. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships within and across business lines at all levels of the organization. JD from an accredited law school. License to practice law in at least one state. Ten (10)+ years of legal experience with a major law firm or in-house law department, including four (4)+ years of management experience. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work with multi-disciplinary project teams across multiple geographic locations. Demonstrated ability to motivate, communicate, delegate, and inspire confidence in others. Excellent language and analytical skills. Excellent drafting and negotiating skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of and extensive experience in state, federal and international employment laws and regulations.
