Education Assistant Instructor(Motorcycle Safety) SIU Carbondale, Department of Health Education and Recreation is seeking anAssistant Instructor to serve as Project Director/Coordinator for the Motorcycle Rider Safety Training Program. Responsibilities: Responsible foroverall project management and for reporting annually to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Report all leave time status used by any full-time project staff andpayroll category classifications with job duties. Manage the day-to-day operation of the project. Teach instructor preparation course. Prepare project proposals and manage project costs. Train, supervise and evaluate instructors. Select and equip training sites. Develop and distribute course schedules. Procure and manage motorcycles and other training equipment. Prepare reports for course evaluation and document costs for reimbursement.Maintain website. Qualifications: The rank of AssistantInstructor requires a bachelor's degree. Should have a technical understanding of the project and be experienced in theproject and fiscal management, personnel management and preparation of project proposals. Must have motorcycle safety knowledge, administrative and personnel management experience, and teaching qualifications and experience. Must have a valid class M (State of Illinois-motorcycle) driver's license or its equivalent fromanother state and have a safe riding and driving record. Must be a Chief Instructor or become a Chief Instructor within 18 months of appointment. Must have a valid basic first aid card. This position is contingent upon receiving grant funding and final candidate must be approved by granting agency. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and background. The term, non-tenure track, position is available 12/1/11.
