Assistant Liability Manager recruitment
Key Responsibilities:
To provide leading support to the Manager in:
- Achieving an underwriting profit, predicated on a pure loss ratio agreed upon with regional profit centre management.
- Minimizing the expense component of the combined ratio in conjunction with the profit centre manager. This includes reinsurance commission levels and acquisition costs.
- Production growth within profit centre.
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with peer individuals within producers, particularly all the major producing firms.
- Ensuring that the marketing plans developed at regional and country level are properly documented and incorporated in the strategic budget package.
- The establishment and maintenance of underwriting guidelines to ensure the proper delegation and monitoring of underwriting authority to support staff
- Ensuring proper utilization of reinsurance facilities (treaty facultative). All facultative placements should balance both net acceptances and commission income and be placed with AIG approved security.
- Developing systems procedural enhancements designed to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Recruitment, development and training of underwriting staff.
- Recruitment and continual improvement of training programs is also fundamental.
Main Duties consist of:
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual Business Plan and playing a strong role in the strategies for enhancing the growth of existing business and the development of new business opportunities.
- Underwriting, negotiation and acceptance of new and renewal business.
- Preparation and delivery of routine and ad-hoc reports as required by AIG management.
- Ensuring that premium transactions are processed in accordance with AIG service standards.
- Ensuring that documentation is drafted processed and issued in accordance with AIG service standards.
- Ensuring that appropriate systems are in place to adequately service routine customer/ internal enquiries and incoming mail.
- Data processing on both Mainframe and P.C database systems as required.
- Placing and dealing with facultative reinsurance items within AIG and local management guidelines.
- Ensure that all staff with Self Audit Responsibilities fulfils diligently their monthly quota of Audits.
The ideal candidate
Key Responsibilities
- Be highly numerate
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Competent with IT and AIG systems
- Leaving Certificate with at least 2 Grade C in higher level will be required.
- Strong knowledge of insurance and principals with very solid relevant work experience.
- It is preferable that substantial progress be made in the A.C.I.I. examinations.
- Strong proficiency in PC worksheet programs such as Microsoft Excel
- Self starter with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communicational skills
- Strong motivational skills with a track record in directing and working within a team environment.
- Numerically literate
