Overview of the Role
To be a core member of the Loan Team with a focus on assisting the Director’s of Loans in the analysis of new investment opportunities and portfolio holdings.
Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain financial models for new transactions as required. To agree and model appropriate downside sensitivities
• Working with the Director’s of Loans review all due diligence for each new investment opportunity to clearly understand the key risks and mitigants in each transaction
• Write the credit review for new transaction offering a clear and well structured investment rationale and support the Director of Loans with the presentation of the new investment opportunity for review to the investment
• On an on-going basis support the Director’s of Loans in the monitoring and analysis of existing loans. Make clear recommendations regarding the status of each holding and positions held within portfolio
• Where allocated primary responsibility for specific loans:
1. update the team on the financial performance of the business in a timely fashion
2. provide a clear view on the relative value of the holding
3. monitor secondary market pricing and reasons for changes
4. circulate relevant trade ideas
• Liaise as required with Senior Management of portfolio companies to ensure comprehensive monitoring of the performance of the borrowers
• Build relationships with colleagues in Fixed Income and Equities to enhance overall knowledge and sources of information to support credit views
• Build relationships with peers within the loan market to better understand the technical drivers of the market and information flows within the market
• Support the team with the preparation of marketing data and presentations
• Continue to develop knowledge and understanding of financial markets and economic data
Technical Skills Qualifications Required
• CFA or equivalent qualification (or studying for)
• Previous experience working in either a Loans, or secured credit function
