The HSBC Singapore Legal department is a centralized Group Function, headed by a General Counsel with 14 lawyers responsible for all Global Businesses, Litigation and the Group Functions in Singapore.
The legal environment in which HSBC conducts business is becoming ever more complex, with regulators tightening controls and governments the world over implementing new legislation. We have a crucial role to play in ensuring that HSBC and its businesses manage legal risks appropriately and in a cost efficient manner.
We are now inviting qualified individuals to join this team in the role of Assistant Manager, Document Preparation Unit (DPU).
Principal Accountabilities
Reporting into the Deputy General Counsel, the job-holder will be responsible primarily to review and extract terms from approved credit papers for preparation of facility documentation for Global Banking and Commercial Banking. The job-holder is expected to work closely with the lawyers and the relationship managers in preparing facility letters, loan agreements, standard form security documents and ancillary facility documents such as resolutions, security provider confirmations.
Key responsibilities for this role are:-
- Provide prompt and accurate facility documentation support to Global Banking and Commercial Banking.
- Proper incorporation of commercial term, credit terms and other terms imposed by the relevant credit approving authority in the facility letter, and preparation of appropriate standard form documents
- Identify potential issues with the proposed financing and/or security arrangements, inconsistencies in terms proposed, missing information and liaise with the relevant relationship managers for clarification.
- Constant monitoring and improvement of turnaround time for delivery of facility letters and security documents.

- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
- Good team player with strong communication and inter-personal skills.
- Degree Holder with relevant working experience.
- Proficient in English, both oral and written.
- Ability to use proficiently, a range of software including Word and Excel.
- Some knowledge of contract law with prior experience in documentation or similar roles within the banking or finance industry will be an advantage.
