Assistant Manager -Strategy Implementation Team recruitment

Background:                                   

This is a client facing, front office role within the Strategy Implementation Team, within the Index Funds department. The team is a busy, successful team who are renowned for providing a high level of client service. The team is responsible for the coordination, movement and restructuring of client portfolios including securities and cash.   Clients are mainly external and consist of pension schemes and other institutional investors, who are transferring assets into and out of LGIM’s range of investment products. 

The role is multifaceted and requires a combination of technical knowledge, analytical ability, and project management and communication skills. The applicant would be assigned a number of portfolio restructuring exercises to undertake at any given time for which they would have either full or partial responsibility. They will be required to liaise with investment consultants and clients to ascertain the requirements of the restructuring and, following discussion with external and internal fund managers and analysis of portfolios, establish the most appropriate course of action. 

The applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the restructuring exercise takes place according to plan/instruction and they will be required to effectively communicate the process/activity to clients/consultants and all relevant areas of LGIM in a timely manner.  

On completion, the applicant will be responsible for writing a comprehensive report detailing all aspects of the restructuring undertaken. The applicant would also be responsible for the resolution of any queries or issues that subsequently arise.

The applicant would need to be able to work accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines. They would need to be confident in handling large volumes of activity/assets on a regular basis.

The key aim of the team is to provide a consistent, efficient and excellent client service.

Key Accountabilities:

• Arrangement and coordination of the efficient transfer of portfolios to/from external investment managers by:

−Working with clients and consultants to fully understand requirements

−Liaise with external investment managers to establish details of the existing/target portfolios, determine their requirements and identify any issues/constraints.

−Working with LGIM Institutional Business with regards to the production of any necessary documentation.

−Working with LGIM Fund Managers to provide accurate analysis of the portfolios to be transferred.

−Working with LGIM Operations to ensure that portfolio transfers/transitions are carried out smoothly, accurately and efficiently.

−Communicating activity to all relevant parties clearly, timely and effectively.

−To be pro-active in identifying and communicating problems/issues and ensuring follow up and the satisfactory resolution of any problems/issues.

−Produce written reports on completion of each portfolio restructuring exercise.

 EssentialDesirable 

Academic Qualifications

• ‘A’ levels (inc Maths related subject Grade A or B) or equivalent

• Graduate or equivalent

Technical/Professional Qualifications

• IMC

Experience

• Client facing experience (face to face experience not necessary)

• Experience in investment management environment

• Experience of a range of investment markets and instruments
