Assistant Program Director of Nursing

What you will be doing:
~ Develop and maintain knowledge of all state laws and regulations pertaining to practical nursing.
~ Assist with administration of the entrance examination (TEAS) and health screen of each student-nursing prospect. Monitor results and meet with each nursing student prospect prior to admission.
~ Coordinate with Nursing Advisory Board Committee meetings at least bi-annually and work in conjunction with the board in the overall functions of the nursing program.
~ Assist in hiring and assessing competency level of each nursing instructor; thoroughly review all faculty credentials ensuring state nursing guidelines are maintained.
~ Evaluate weekly lesson plans submitted by nursing instructors to assure achievement of course objectives in accordance with prepared syllabus including nursing competencies and content areas.
~ Monitor nursing faculty to assure student skills compare developed and practiced in the classroom; medical faculty must utilize student competency checklist to track skill development.
~ Conduct workshops and seminars for nursing faculty to assure they earn CEU’s annually in compliance with each individual’s credential requirements. Assist in conducting new instructor orientation program to include nursing instructional protocol, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, Blood Born Pathogens, Our College orientation, etc.
~ Assist with review of college transcripts of transferring students to determine accurate credit transfer.
~ Compile/maintain a substitute teacher list of qualified nursing instructors.
~ Assist in academic advising to nursing students on probationary status and those experiencing difficulty.
~ Identify and help coordinate clinical rotations; work closely with medical employers to develop clinical sites, place students in those sites, monitor student progress or deficiencies at clinical sites and assist on-site if necessary, and maintain detailed log of student attendance.
~ Assist as advisor to nursing students who need help and advice in the areas of academics as well as personal issues that may arise.
~ Coordinate physical exams conducted on clinical students, provide health screen for all potential nursing students, and coordinate completion of all medical liability forms ensuring payments are made to insurance company and all policies are in place.
~ Manage and maintain medical labs and nursing unit; oversee equipment set-up and inventory, oversee equipment calibration and repair, ensure adequate supply inventory, maintain OSHA regulations, standard operating procedures, and clinical controls for CLIA waved tests, and monitor regulation of hazardous medical waste.
~ Assist in completing the AIR that involves the nursing program and analyze statistics for IEP and SEP. Update IEP and SEP quarterly to analyze internal and external measurements (student and employer surveys) and student outcomes.
~ Assist the Nursing Program Director in analyzing, in conjunction with other educational outcomes, the statistics on the NCLEX passing rates, manage those statistics accordingly and adjust policy of necessary to ensure student success.
~ Prepare quarterly master schedule for nursing students in conjunction with the Nursing Program Director and the Academic Dean (following proper medical prerequisites) and assist nursing students with individual schedules.
~ Attend commencement exercises and other related school functions.
~ Work with student retention goals set by the Academic Dean
~ Perform other related duties as assigned by the Nursing Program Director and Academic Dean

An ideal candidate will have:
~ Current RN License (Indiana preferred)
~ 1-3 years experience in Healthcare
~ Teaching experience in post-secondary and/or vocational/technical education
