Kelly Scientific Resources is currently seeking candidates for an Assistant Scientist position in Raritan, NJ. This position will support a long term project with a well established pharmaceutical company. This person will be involved in developing methods to expand, differentiate, characterize and process human stem cells using state of the bioprocessing technologies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (this is not a comprehensive listing of job functions): Work in a fast moving, intellectually stimulating and demanding team environment. Conduct experiments to develop a scalable pancreatic cell source for use as a diabetes cell therapy. Conduct assay development to improve and optimize conditions for expansion and differentiation of cells of interest. Support and execute on studies to produce, process, characterize and enrich endocrine progenitor cells. Maintain accurate records, perform data analysis and communicate results through written and oral summaries to a cross-disciplinary team of personnel. Closely interact with different internal groups to facilitate experimental processes. Be familiar with and able to quickly review relevant published external and internal work including peer review publications and patents; support and contribute to writing of patent applications. May perform other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Hands on experience with large molecule process development and/or suspension style bioreactor systems with finish and fill or cryopreservation expertise will be given preferential consideration. Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture OR protein and nucleic acid analysis e.g., real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, western blot, ELISA, etc. is required. The candidate must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with excellent oral and written communication capabilities. Must be able to work in a fast paced, high throughput work environment. Must thrive in a team-oriented and entrepreneurial environment. Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must be able to work some weekends or evenings. Initial training will involve working three to four weekends in a row. Must demonstrate teamwork skills. Provide guidance to new or junior personnel. May serve as liaison to wider internal or external scientific community. Must maintain a safe working environment.
