Assistant Senior Investment Officer recruitment
This is a full time exempt position reporting to the Senior Investment Officer (SIO) for Public Equity.
The ASIO will assist the SIO and participate in all aspects of managing the Public Equity portions of WSIB’s assets.
Essential Activities:
- Assist in the research and development of appropriate portfolio structure.
- Lead or assist, as needed, with all aspects of external management including searches, monitoring, research, analysis, development of recommendations, risk management, performance attribution, and execution cost analysis.
- Research managers and innovative strategies.
- Execute rebalancing and transitions.
- Present to the WSIB Board, Committee(s) and stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with external investment firms, and service providers including consultants and custodians.
- Co-ordinate and work co-operatively with all units of the WSIB as well as WSIB stakeholders.
desired Qualifications:
- Strong academic credentials with a degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or related field.
- Five years experience researching and managing external public equity managers, preferably in an institutional setting.
- CFA or CFA candidate strongly preferred.
- Experience with defined benefit and defined contribution structures is strongly preferred. Experience with insurance investment portfolios and/or endowment funds is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of manager database software, trade execution analytics, performance attribution software, and MS Office.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with strong presentation skills.
- Must be willing and able to do some travel.
- Collaborative mindset, preferably with experience working in the public sector with multiple stakeholders
- Equity research experience is a plus.
