We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager/Assistant Store Manager. As a member of the management team, this position plays a critical role in achieving the store's budgeted sales goals and payroll hours. Duties and Responsibilities: Management of associates, which includes: reviewing job applications and interviewing job applicants; hiring, training and development of associates; planning work assignments; prioritizing tasks to be completed in the store and assigning those tasks to associates; determining the techniques to be used to accomplish the task; and ensuring the satisfactory completion of the assigned work Ensure the proper health care, appearance and maintenance of companion animals Ensure quick and courteous service to all PETCO customers by helping associates determine the customer's needs and by sharing product knowledge with associates to enable them to suggest the appropriate merchandise to meet the customer's needs Assist in the coordination and completion of all periodic physical inventory counts Merchandising duties to include directing and supporting the ordering, loading, unloading, pricing, SKUing and stocking of merchandise according to operational procedures Supervise, manage and develop store personnel Ensure that all cash-wrap areas and Grooming Department are customer service-oriented, properly staffed and well stocked through the management of Cashiers, Sales Associates and Grooming Department personnel Ensure compliance with loss prevention procedures and supply ordering Education and Experience: High school diploma or its equivalent (GED) is preferred "Big Box" retail experience with over one million dollars in annual sales preferred Ability to demonstrate advanced mathematics proficiency Exceptional communication skills Must be available weekends, week nights, and flexible daily Previous retail management experience is generally preferred for this position Strong organizational skills Ability to instruct others regarding basic sales techniques Professional appearance and demeanor Must have a genuine interest in animals In addition to a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and 401K, PETCO associates also receive paid time off, an associate discount, and the benefits of an award-winning training program.
