• Assist managing operations in specified merchandising areas to deliver targeted net contribution.
• Analyze opportunities and put in place business plans to achieve financial objectives within the store (includes gross profit, wage cost, operational expenses, inventory control, net contribution, shrink).
• Support strong employee performance by setting clear expectations, providing performance feedback, and developing employee capability.
• Execute merchandising programs including ownership for maintenance, communication and execution of store plan-o-grams.
• Maintenance and communication of all Health and Safety initiatives within the store environment.
• Develop action plans to realize performance improvement opportunities and carry these through to completion.
• Participate in store administrative activities as required, including maintaining scrolls, financial reporting, labour scheduling, budgeting, etc.
• Assist in the day-to-day operations and oversee the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
• Ensure product information is available to staff and customers.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required.
• Five (5) years store management experience in a large format retail environment.
• Post secondary education/formal training in merchandising and/or business management an asset.
• Demonstrated creativity in display merchandising
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty.
• Excellent organizational abilities - able to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced sometimes-unpredictable environment.
• Knowledge of store system skills (STAS, Elvis, Telxon, BDR) is an asset.
• Computer skills (PC Applications; Outlook/E-mail, Excel)
• Must be able to work evenings, Saturday, Sunday, and holidays
