MISSION:

The Assistant Superintendent will oversee and lead the optimization of productivity, quality, variation reduction, and cost factors critical to customer needs. This position participates with Maintenance / Operations to coordinate maintenance items and assists in planning monthly maintenance items.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works with production and technical department teams to monitor and improve paper making process.

• Works with maintenance and production teams to help develop and manage capital and maintenance projects.

• Production responsibilities include minimizing machine downtime, increasing capacity, troubleshooting, and improving current processes.

• A strong concentration on machine runability is necessary.

• Quality projects consist on decreasing downgrade, addressing defects, and monitoring/improving sheet specifications.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Paper Science or Chemical Engineering

• Technical and problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated supervisory and project management skills.

• Demonstrated ability to facilitate process improvement teams.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to motivate people.

• Must be quality conscious and customer oriented.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Internet skills.

• Experience in Lean Manufacturing is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to develop direct reports and peers.
