Markit Indices is a leading independent provider of financial indices across all major asset classes. We manage and calculate Markit CDX and Markit iTraxx, the world’s leading credit derivatives indices, and the Markit iBoxx bond indices. Our indices are used by banks, asset managers and other financial institutions to create and manage financial products and investment risk, as well as in research. Our bespoke index service provides clients such as investment banks and asset managers with tailor-made indices according to their specifications. The service covers design, test and daily calculation and publication.

Key success factor for our Markit iBoxx indices are transparency due to a rules based approach and independence, e.g. multicontributor pricing. Institutions like Barclays Capital, BNP Paribas, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, Royal Bank of Scotland and UBS provide real-time input to Markit.

Position summary

As part of the daily processes there is key focus are on corporate action research and implementation and the development of in house software.

Strict governance rules are applicable to the daily application of corporate actions. A forward view of corporate actions is essential to understand the forthcoming impact on the indices.

Management of the production and delivery of the index products to clients on a daily basis is an essential part of this position. Managing this process within the client’s service level targets is critical. There is a need to clearly communicate with internal stakeholders in Frankfurt, London, Singapore, New Delhi and New York.

The position requires experience in the production of equity and fixed income indices, management of client relationships as well as technical knowledge about the implementation of corporate actions and external feeds for pricing.

Development of the above aspects into in house software with the view of improving client service and control reporting. Managing this process amongst internal and external stakeholders to minimize impact on index production is critical to the business.

Duties accountabilities

There are five main areas of responsibilities:

• Quality Assurance; reviewing and challenging the existing processes, and introducing new measures to ensure quality throughout the end to end process of delivering indices to the clients.

• Development; planning, management, implementation and control of in house software amongst stakeholders including setting best practices, standardization of reporting, procedure documentation and staff training.
