Position summary
Markit Corporate Actions is a best-in-class centralized source of validated corporate action announcements for nearly two million equities, fixed income, and structured finance securities across global markets.
The Markit Corporate Actions GPS team is responsible for monitoring domestic and international corporate actions announcements from the point of notice of inception and conducts a stringent cleansing process to produce validated corporate actions data to clients.
The Markit Corporate Actions Team Lead manages the Corporate Actions analysts who are responsible for ensuring that the state of each composite record clearly defines the terms of the corporate action, including critical dates and times in order for customers to pass notification on to their clients for investment decisions and to allocate entitlement to its customers resulting from the corporate action.
Key functions include managing local analyst team, quality control, reviewing productivity and SLA metrics, incorporating necessary controls into the processing workflow and working with global leadership team to implement process improvements and improve the overall performance of the global team. The Lead is expected to speak regularly with product managers, sales and customers to ensure quality service levels are achieved.
Duties accountabilities
- Responsible for managing Corporate Actions analysts
- Monitor work queues of staff throughout the day to ensure that all work is addressed and complete that day
- Identify any vendor/custodian discrepancies, research discrepancies until resolution
- Review daily exception reports, including potential duplicates, ensure that noted exceptions and potential duplicates are resolved the same day
- Responsible for quality control of client-facing data produced by local team
- Correspond with Custodians to resolve discrepancies between the Corporate Actions composite and Custodian record received
- Interface with Domestic and Foreign Paying/Transfer/Information Agents, Vendors, Custodians, Banks, Exchange Officials, and with high ranking Issuer Officers (CFO, CEO), including Legal Counsel, in order to obtain the corporate action specifics to be incorporated into the GCA announcement composite record for publication to its customers.
- Monitor the customer support queue and responds to customer inquiries
- Collaborate with GPS managers, product managers, Business Analysts and technology team on new initiatives, system enhancements, and new applications
- Responsible for User Acceptance Testing of system enhancements and new applications
- Share best practices with team members and counterparts on global leadership team
- Ensures Business Continuity Plan (BCP) initiatives are achieved
- Prepares staff performance appraisals and development plans
Business competencies
Education and experience:
- BA or BS is required
- Degree in finance or economics strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Fixed Income and Equities required
- Knowledge and experience working with Corporate Actions required
- Strong research skills and data mining experience required
- Knowledge of Excel, SQL and VBA strongly preferred
Commercial awareness:
- Proven interest in financial markets and desire to increase knowledge
