GPS - Business Analysis

Department overview

GPS – Business Analysis is a central department within Global Product Services that is responsible for providing professional business analysis services to several products within the firm including Credit, Reference Data, Valuation and Risk amongst others. The department’s main focus is work on high priority projects within or across product groups. The individuals in the department will be responsible for working with the business sponsors / SMEs to creating high quality business and functional requirements, work with Development and QA staff to design and verify solutions respectively and coordinate GO LIVE activities

Position summary

Markit seeks an experienced business analyst for the GPS Business Analysis department focusing on Credit Derivatives Pricing. The candidate should have experience with requirements gathering across a global stakeholder group, business and functional requirements writing, working with system architects, working with QA, user acceptance testing, and product rollout.

Duties accountabilities

• Act as a liaison between business and technology groups to facilitate communication both ways

• Conduct stakeholder interviews to gather business requirements

• Write complete business requirements and facilitate sign-off

• Create a requirements plan

• Produce detailed functional requirement specifications using different modeling techniques including use cases, swim lanes, workflow diagrams, screen mockups, etc.

• Work with system architects to ensure system design meets business requirements

• Present high level system architecture to business stakeholders as it relates to business requirements

• Communicate requirements and updates to the same to the relevant stakeholder group

• Review test plans and provide feedback to the Quality Assurance group for the test case index

• Coordinate and participate in User Acceptance Testing

• Support tracking of bugs/enhancements/features as part of the change management process

• Ensure consistency of specifications across sub-systems

• Conduct gap analysis and downstream impact

• Write, revise, and edit client education, user, administrative, and support materials (user guides, quick reference guides, FAQs, training materials, online help)

• Conduct user training workshops as required

Business competencies

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in the field of technology or finance required.

• Prior experience as a Business Analyst required.

• Graduate degree (MS, MBA) preferred.

• Experience with building large scale systems

Commercial awareness

• Understanding of general financial terms and principals required.
