Summary of Responsibilities:
The Derivatives and Market Risk unit within ERM is looking for an individual with strong derivatives expertise to take a lead role on derivatives counterparty credit risk modeling, setting of derivatives risk limits, derivatives model validation, and testing of hedge effectiveness. As part of the broader Derivatives and Market Risk team, this individual will provide insight and support for the advancement of market risk initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Assume lead role within ERM for advancing risk models used to estimate potential exposure and potential losses associated with counterparty credit risk across the entire MetLife derivatives portfolio
• Develop appropriately sized, risk-based limits for counterparty credit exposure and derivatives programs for all of MetLife’s global entities and for the enterprise
• Lead efforts to validate derivatives models used by the Desk
• Lead efforts to analyze and develop tests of effectiveness for derivatives hedging strategies
• Support the development of derivatives risk monitoring tools and reporting
• Participate at meetings of the Model Analytics Governance Committee
• Partner with the Front Desk, ALM, Portfolio Management, and country risk managers to meet objectives and build strong working relationships
• Effectively communicate and accurately represent the derivatives portfolio risk profile
• Forecast and monitor the budget around assigned projects and resources
• Manage one or more analysts
Required Competencies:
• Excellent analytic skills and an advanced degree in a scientific field such as math, physics, or statistics; Ph.D. preferred
• 7+ years hands-on derivatives experience
• Deep understanding of models used to price derivatives, including interest rate derivatives; and confidence with stochastic calculus
• Good project management, time management, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Familiarity with banking and/or insurance company regulations
• Prior management experience preferred
