Assistant Vice President, Field Learning and Development
This corporate-based position strategically oversees the development and implementation of Human Resources programs to ensure the most effective use of human capital needed to maximize business performance in the T.J. Maxx and Marshalls field organizations. Specific areas of focus include Learning and Development, Organizational Effectiveness, and Talent Management. Responsibilities includes:
Develops strategic partnerships with Field Management to ensure Human Resources strategies align with the organization’s operational goals.
Conducts needs analysis to develop scalable HR strategies that align with the organization’s growth plans.
Influence and advise Field Human Resources and Operations Executives by providing strategic HR guidance to the field regions.
Communicate and align the Company’s Global HR Strategy with the regional approach.
Monitors the strategy, design, facilitation, and ongoing management of the succession planning process for T.J. Maxx and Marshalls field organization. This includes annual talent review meetings and mid-year talent check-ins.
Partners with senior leaders throughout the succession planning process. ensures ongoing development of key high potential individuals by partnering with management team and following up on development plans.
Oversees and manages the Management Assessment Process (including PDI, 360 feedback) for field organization.
Supports executives in assessing, developing, and promoting their direct reports. Administers and delivers feedback and coaching on assessment centers and 360 degree feedback instruments to high potential candidates.
Assists in the creation of development plans. Partners with assessment participants and their managers to follow-up on developmental plans and actions.
Collaborates with internal teams and business partners to devise training and development strategies that will meet the Company’s strategic and operational business goals.
Strategically drives the design, development, selection and revision of training and development programs in response to business needs and objectives.
Oversees the implementation of all field training and development programs to ensure quality and consistency is upheld.
Conducts needs assessment to identify training and development opportunities.
Ensures assessment and evaluation mechanisms are in place to measure the effectiveness of training programs/materials.
Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with exposure to Learning and Development, Organizational Effectiveness and/or Talent Management.
In addition, HR Business Partner experience preferred.
Experience working within a large, complex environment, supporting a sizeable client group.
Experience in the retail industry, supporting a field organization preferred.
Strength in conducting needs assessment and analysis.
Strong knowledge of Succession Planning and Talent Management Programs.
The ability to successfully design and develop learning materials.
Proven experience as a strategic business partner, and a history of successfully influencing business leaders.
Exposure to succession planning, coaching and assessing talent.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking ability.
Flexibility, adaptability and a comfort working in the gray.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Travel up to 40%
