Institutional Banking Markets (IBM) is responsible for the provision of products and services to nearly 3000 major corporate, institutional and government clients to optimise the client’s capital structure and related financial flows.
This is achieved through the origination, structuring and execution of on and off balance sheet products that are enhanced through the efficient application of taxation, accounting, risk and capital management technologies. Institutional Banking Markets is the primary face to the market for all complex financing and advisory functions for the Bank’s corporate and government clients.
IBM provides a full range of risk management products, services and structured solutions to the Bank’s group clients. Our solutions span foreign exchange and currency risk management, interest rate risk management, money market and fixed interest, commodities risk management, securities and e-commerce. The business is among the most ‘global’ in the Group with points of representation in all mainland states of Australia as well as New Zealand, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, London and New York.
The Fixed Income Origination Distribution (FIOD) business is responsible for the origination of new bond issues; syndication and distribution of primary fixed income products; intermediating secondary market transactions in the fixed income and associated interest rate derivative markets; and co-ordinating the delivery to clients of the Bank’s fixed income research product.
Fixed Income Institutional Sales is a client facing business within FIOD responsible for the transactional delivery of our full range of Fixed Income and associated interest rate derivative products to primarily institutional investor clients, ranging from Central Banks, Asset Manager, Private Banks, and Life Companies. It liaises with large and medium sized Australian-based investors, as well as all Federal and State Government related issuer and investor clients (excluding local government authorities).
Role Purpose
This position will be responsible for servicing a defined client base and providing them with best in class specialist fixed income and interest rate risk management services.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain and service nominated client portfolio by delivering best in class fixed income market and related product information, and co-ordinating delivery of all relevant CBA products and resources to clients as required.
- Maximise sale of fixed income and interest rate risk management products to a defined institutional investor client base with the objective of meeting individual and team revenue growth targets. To this end ensure optimum returns for the Bank are generated from each transaction.
- Develop a strong and trusted relationship with the targeted client executives including analysts, portfolio managers and senior investment officers.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and grow existing client share of wallet.
- Assist with the development, introduction and implementation of new financial markets products.
- Own client complaints until resolved, and ensure these are managed in line with Bank and IBM policy
- Ensure accurate maintenance of all records and documentation
- Identify and assess the risks, which could prevent the objectives of your role. Plan and execute risk mitigating procedures. On a regular basis, report and discuss the results of your risk management.
- Actively build internal relationships and networks within the Bank’s relevant client facing departments in order to establish and maximise product referrals
Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential
- 3-5 years’ Fixed Income Sales relevant experience required
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including presentation and public speaking
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Sound business acumen
- Analytical with strong problem solving, numerical and verbal reasoning skills
- Adapts well and enjoys change
- Excellent computer literacy
- Proven commitment to comply with regulations, policies and process
- Sound knowledge of relevant financial services and global market products
Desirable
- AFMA Tier 1 accreditation
- Tertiary qualification in finance or other relevant field
