Job Description
- Participates in design, development and implementation of systems engineering activities, to include OS technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities.
- Responsible for components of complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities.
- Assists in establishment of input/output processes and working parameters for hardware compatibility and coordination of subsystems design and integration of total system.
- Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; provides tech knowledge and capabilities as team member and individual contributor.
- Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations.
- Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel.
- Typically 5 or more years of systems engineering experience.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for support of complex Enterprise Application Operational Environments, primarily but not limited to MiddleWare.
- May participate in project engineering and implementation meetings including middleware upgrades, patching and decommissioning both software and hardware, capacity planning, inventory and analytics.
- Actively engage in Vendor support, triaging, escalation and remediation.
- Complete assigned deliverables timely.
- Adhere and comply to change control policies and practices, Incident Management Process, working knowledge of such tool (Preferably Maximo).
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Extensive working experience in production break fix support in a global environment, work closely with both on/off shore resources to resolve production operational issues.
- As a seasoned technical resource, may manage projects and collaborate activities of sub team related to initiatives and operations.
- Provide technical knowledge and capabilities as a member of a project team or as an individual contributor.
- Work under minimal supervision, with general guidance from leads and/or managers
Requirements
Required Skills:
- Experience in Web App server technologies, Middleware components, including but not limited to some combination of Oracle Weblogic, IBM Wepshere, Redhat,JBoss, Messaging, SiteMinder, LDAP, MQ and Authentication/Authorization tiers
- Experience with mid-range compute platforms enterprise storage including but not limited to Solaris, AIX, Linux, and Windows Proficient in identifying and resolving abnormalities in the production, operational environment before there is impact to the business applications
- Provide world class speed and quality response to production incidents, and serve in an on call rotation.
- Lead technical troubleshooting and drive incident resolution
- Experience with basic programming and basic to strong skill shell scripting, Korn shell and Perl preferred
- Work independently in a team/teams oriented environment, with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills, communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical team mates and partners
- Handle competing priorities in a fast-paced dynamic enterprise environment
- Take initiative, a self-starter
- 8+ years hands-on experience in IT systems and/or application management work experience in Level 2 or 3 production support
- B.S. or equivalent

- Experience across multiple technology disciplines
- 10+ years hands-on technical experience in a heterogeneous enterprise computing environment
- Strong experience with Middleware components WebSphere, WebLogic, certification preferred, and performance monitoring, tuning and batch operation tools
- Supporting enterprise business critical applications
- Experience working with a global team
- Experience mentoring technical resources
