Responsible for providing medical expertise to support commercialization strategies for products within the Pain Category. This individual will create/contribute to the strategy and execute the tactical plan for medical-marketing communications and other activities to achieve commercial and scientific objectives for the product candidates in the Pain category/product portfolio. This role requires strong planning, organization, and time management skills, a solid track record of executing projects, and the ability to work cross-functionally and make responsible decisions in support of business objectives.
 Evaluate new therapeutic opportunities and provide Medical assessments to commercial teams and cross-functional RD partners
 Create/contribute to the strategy for medical communications for product candidates in the Pain Category in alignment with business targets
 Achieve timely delivery of high quality medical communications plan components, such as publications, abstracts, scientific posters, medical trainings, and toolkits
 Substantiate claims for Pain products candidates. Based on clinical data and published literature, propose new claims for Pain products
 Review and approve copies of promotional materials and other scientific communications.
 Defend products from challenges from competitors and provide support to challenge competitors’ claims
 Build up advocacy to support his/her therapeutic area/brand(s) by recruiting and maintaining relationships with key advisors and scientific thought leaders
 Manage key vendors who support the development of the promotional medical activities
 Contribute and maintain updated information in the knowledge management tool Sharepoint repository
 Provide medical input to Exploration Requests and Integrated Development Plans on new projects in his/her therapeutic area/brand(s)

- Accomplished OTC and/or ethical pharmaceutical executive who has played a lead role in medical affairs and medical marketing by way of background.
- M.D., PharmD, or PhD with at least 3-5 years of experience with a successful track record of escorting products through the commercialization process.
- Experience in clinical development would be a plus, including broad knowledge of several different therapeutic categories, preferably OTC
- Knowledge and understanding of consumer needs and attitudes, customer groups, and opinion leaders, as well as ability to partner with internal cross-functional groups to ensure effective cooperation, teamwork, and collaboration with RD, Marketing, Sales, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Business Development Licensing.
- Personal characteristics should include a real team orientation, entrepreneurial spirit and strong leadership qualities in order to champion Novartis’ OTC products from a medical standpoint.

- Bright, positive, articulate, and creative, with excellent collaborative, analytical and managerial skills.
