DescriptionLeads the Operational Excellence program for the Consent Decree as a member of the Consent Decree Management Office (CDMO) leadership team. Works closely with key partners to align business practices, develop processes, provide data and evaluate metrics related to the successful remediation of the Consent Decree. Leads efforts to build organizational capabilities and assist with the implementation of ongoing process management mechanisms. Provides facilitation support for senior level management and governance teams to drive effective discussion and resolution of issues.
Responsibilities
- Implement practical and sustainable business processes to address needs of CDMO and related stakeholders
- Act as a change agent to drive continuous improvement mindset with the execution and implementation of Operational Excellence activities.
- Drive the implementation and adoption of Process Based Leadership (PBL) throughout the CDMO organization
- Build strong and positive working relationships with key stakeholders by working to include them in the improvement activities, making sure their needs and requirements are carefully considered
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders and senior management regarding progress, issues and plans for resolution
- Develop and maintain prioritized continuous improvement project list (annual deployment plan) for the CDMO organization. Update and prioritize this list on a regular, ongoing basis.
- Manage teams and individuals both directly and indirectly to drive resolution of critical business issues related to the Consent Decree
- Works closely with HR to establish, sequence and coordinate appropriate people related activities (e.g. key talent programs, succession planning, promotion and performance discussions)
- Establish and maintain relationships with members of the Operational Excellence network to drive sharing of best practices and leverage resources at other Genzyme sites and functions

Basic Qualifications:
- BS/BA required (Science, Engineering)
- 8+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry
- Hands-on application of Operational Excellence concepts (Strategy Deployment, VSM, TWI, 3P, TPM, SMED, and Poka-Yoke for processes ranging from shop-floor to back-office) in industry with accountability for results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree (MS/MBA)
- Lean, Six Sigma and/or other Change Management certifications
- Exceptional communication, influence and leadership skills, with a clear bias for action
- Demonstrated success in leading organizational and cultural change
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, as well as teach and present complex and/or new ideas with clarity and simplicity
- Ability to influence with or without authority, facilitate groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to consensus/alignment
- Detailed knowledge Operational Excellence principles (beyond a "tools techniques" approach)
- Facile with broad range of quality and process improvement tools (in particular, ANOVA, SPC, MSA, DOE, and problem solving tools)
- Superior facilitation, communication, and consultative skills
- Excellent project management, planning and prioritization skills, along with the ability to multitask and adapt.
