Associate Accountant (1926) recruitment

Essential Function/Duties:

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly recurring journal entries

• Maintain the fixed asset ledger for both book and tax purposes

• Prepare and analyze all balance sheet reconciliations

• Post payments from LockBox accounts to A/R and general ledger accounts daily

• Calculate, prepare and distribute client invoices for quarterly investment fees earned

• Record, classify and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Prepare supporting documentation for audits and interact with internal and external auditors as needed

• Perform ad hoc analysis of accounting transactions, operational performance and balance sheet accounts

• Maintain regular and detailed interaction with A/P, A/R, and payroll for analytical and process support

• Provide support for accurate and timely preparation of financial and other accounting reports

• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting from a fully accredited university

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their proper application to financial institutions and general business transactions

• Public accounting experience (CPA or candidate) preferred

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required (e.g., pivot tables, vertical look up and sum if statements)

• Prior experience with a mid-tier or higher accounting platform is desired: Great Plains, MAS-90, Oracle, SAP, etc.

• Possess excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees in multiple disciplines

• Able to be trusted with confidential information

• Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need) 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of five years administrative experience, including two years at the executive level

• Technologically competent (Word, Excel, Internet, Bloomberg, Reuters)

• Position requires excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated poise and ability to motivate and influence others with diplomacy and tact in a diverse environment

• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements:

• Sitting for an extended period of time, data entry, and computer work. Climb stairs

• Frequently lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear, stoop, kneel or crouch

• Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate object

Schedule: Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required.
