Bank Examiners work to promote a safe, sound, and competitive banking system and stable financial conditions through quality supervision of state member banks, and financial holding companies. Examiners work closely in teams on bank examinations for smaller to medium sized community financial institutions, reviewing financial statements, bank documents and records, and ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws and regulations. Examiners are given high-profile assignments early on in their career, including delivering supervisory findings to senior bank management and Board of Directors. Examiners put their leadership skills to work, leading aspects of bank examinations, directing their peers and providing timely feedback. The level of work required is considered entry and staff must be able to work under close to general supervision. 40-60% travel is required.
