We are looking for a qualified solicitor with experience within the UK fund management industry, to join on a 7month fixed term contract.   Working for Senior Counsel principally to deal with client contracts  in a professional and timely manner, paying particular attention to regulatory requirements and recent changes in regulations or FSA policy/procedures, internal processes, client deadlines and particular client sensitivities.  Attending client meetings and completing monthly reporting for the business.

Additionally to assist Senior Counsel in company secretarial duties, corporate governance and any other ad-hoc tasks as required.  This includes some administration tasks such filing, archiving and safe record management. 

Job Specification:


Basic Purpose:  Under general supervision, provides legal services including drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal contracts and scheme documentation for assigned business area(s).

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Reviews, drafts and negotiates legal contracts and documentation for assigned client group.

• Reviews and provides input to documentation relating to the launch/amalgamation/conversion of UK unit trusts/OEICs.
• Supports assigned client group by responding to questions requiring legal expertise.
• Performs research on legal matters.
• Makes decisions regarding contract negotiation within pre-determined guidelines and policies.
• Completes special projects as requested.

Scope Distinction Independent Action
Focus of job on providing day-to-day review and drafting of legal contracts and scheme documentation for assigned business area. Refers non-routine or complex legal contracts and documents to manager.

Minimum Job Specifications
• Relevant post qualification experience and a background in the fund management industry; along with knowledge of regulatory requirements for UK funds
• License to practice law in work location.
• Good research skills.

• Good time management, planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a small team environment, be flexible and juggle priorities;
