Associate Banker, Astana

Role Overview

An Associate/Analyst is sought to work in the EBRD Resident Office in Astana, Kazakhstan. The candidate's role will be to coordinate policy dialogue, to support banking project related processes (project initiation, appraisal, negotiations, due diligence, legal documentation) under supervision of senior bankers focusing mainly on infrastructure, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. The candidate will also be involved in a policy dialogue and technical assistance projects with the government of Kazakhstan.

Principle responsibilities

· Participate in the promotion of Bank activities and contribute to project identification and generation

· Process projects according to the Bank's investment operation cycle

· Design financial models and to participate in the financial engineering and structuring of investment projects

· Analyze macro-economic situation, sector and market trends, legal framework, loan agreements, other background information

· Participate and assist in financial, technical, legal and environmental due diligence

· Contribute to preparation of project documentation; liaise with clients, local authorities, EBRD support units and other parties as required

· Undertake the monitoring of existing Bank investments, monitoring of project implementation and operation, loan administration, preparation of monitoring reports on meetings with clients, site visits, financial review

· When appropriate, assist clients with business plan preparation

· Coordinate activity of the Joint TC Fund created by the Government of Kazakhstan and the EBRD

· Coordinate various technical assistance projects

· Participate in events to represent EBRD and market its activities.

· Undertake any other assignment that may be given by senior staff regarding administrative and project-related requests.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

· Minimum of three years of relevant and commercial work experience (eg banking, finance, accounting, audit or project finance) · Degree from a credible university, courses or degree in accounting, business administration, finance. Progress towards CFA is desirable · Strong analytical skills · Strong quantitative and modelling skills · Ability to solve problems · Excellent written and verbal command of the English and Russian languages · Experience in dealing with the Government of Kazakhstan or national companies in Kazakhstan is a plus, as is knowledge of the economy of Kazakstan and specific sectors: agriculture, manufacturing, transport.
