Role Overview
An Associate Banker is sought to provide support to the project development and the preparation process, initially under the supervision of senior bankers, but with expectation that he/she will ultimately develop and lead transactions on their own.
The key focus will be on the credit and financial aspects of project development and implementation with special responsibility for financial modelling and analysis, in addition the selected candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of project development and implementation, which may include marketing to prospective clients.
The role will be based in London and will have a reporting line to the Director, ICT.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
With supervision from senior team members, the Associate Banker will be capable of working throughout the whole life cycle of projects. This will be accomplished through marketing, project screening, origination, due diligence, negotiation, preparation and monitoring of projects. This will also include:
- Credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of projects and companies: data gathering, production of financial projections and cash-flow models.
- Participate in origination and execution of new transactions and proactively engage in the oversight of these projects in partnership with bankers based in HQ.
- Credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of companies - data gathering, construction and analysis of financial projections; structuring and monitoring of financing agreements.
- Liaise and work with other departments, such as Credit, OCE, OGC, coordinating their involvement in the project as required.
- Undertake marketing and project origination activities; identify good quality transactions meeting the Bank's requirements.
- Participate in the preparation and presentation of initial and final review documents to the Operations Committee and Small Business Investment Committee.
- Prepare and review financial and other due diligence project related analysis.
- Actively participate in the monitoring of investments including preparation of regular monitoring reports.
- Attend meetings with clients with more senior bankers.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance).
- Minimum of 4 years of commercial bank, investment bank, and/or project finance experience, from a major international financial institution where he/she must have acquired high level banking/transaction skills and demonstrable expertise in structuring operations.
- Understanding of credit, investment and financial analysis and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring.
- Cash flow-based transaction experience.
- Sound decision making and problem resolution skills.
- Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills.
- Very good written and oral communication skills in English.
