Role Overview
An Associate Banker is sought to join the Manufacturing Services Team to work in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region. The Manufacturing Services (MS) Team operates in all the Bank's countries of operation. The Team is responsible for sourcing, appraising, negotiating, executing and monitoring primarily debt but also equity and mezzanine transactions in private sector companies in the manufacturing and services sectors: automotive, ferrous and non ferrous metals, construction materials, chemicals, health and pharmaceuticals, capital goods, forest products, consumer goods, retail and related services. The successful candidate will have a proven track record and will play an active role in the team, using the full range of financing structures available to the Bank. The Associate Banker will be involved in financing investments in by locally and foreign owned companies.
This position is based in London, reassignment to a field location at a later stage is a possibility.
Key Responsibilities Deliverables
With supervision from senior team members, the Associate Banker will be capable of working throughout the whole life cycle of projects. This will also include:
- Credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of projects and companies: data gathering, production of financial projections and cash-flow models.
- Participating in origination and execution of new transactions and proactively engaging in the oversight of these projects in partnership with other bankers based in HQ.
- Liaising and working with other departments as required, such as Credit, Office of the Chief Economist (OCE), Office of General Counsel (OGC).
- Undertaking marketing and project origination activities; identifying good quality transactions meeting the Bank's requirements.
- Participating in the preparation and presentation of initial and final review documents to the Operations Committee and Small Business Investment Committee.
- Preparing and reviewing financial and other due diligence project related analysis.
- Actively participating in the monitoring of investments including preparation of regular monitoring reports.
- Attending meetings with clients in London and abroad with more senior bankers.
Essential Skills, Experience Qualifications
- Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration).
- Minimum of 4 years of commercial bank, investment bank, and/or project finance experience, from a major international financial institution where he/she must have acquired high level banking/transaction skills and demonstrable expertise in structuring operations.
- Prior working experience in the SEMED region and /or knowledge of the business environment in these geographical locations.
- Understanding of credit, investment and financial analysis and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring.
- Cash flow-based transaction experience.
- Very good written and oral communications skills in English and Arabic. Fluency in French is desirable.
