GC Fac provides insurance companies, managing general agencies and captives with the placement strategies, market leverage, information and timely market access that are critical to obtaining sound, strategic facultative reinsurance. We are currently seeking an Associate Broker to assist the broking team in obtaining the most appropriate market placements and services for assigned accounts based on client advisor's assessment of client needs.
Responsibilities Duties:
- Assist with the renewal of reinsurance programs, meet with and entertain clients, as necessary, to learn their needs and maintain strong relationships.
- Assist with the design of new programs for clients' needs, placing business with client-approved reinsurers.
- Manage expenses, time, services, etc. in order to maximize GC profits.
- Produce placement slips, cover notes and contracts, as needed.
- Monitor the follow-up on contract documentation, ensuring the timely flow of materials.
- Monitor accounting (payments, collections, etc.), anticipating and preventing problems, when possible.
- Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly.
- Assist in responding to client requests for information (reinsurer financial reports, industry issues, etc.), coordinating with Market Information and other departments, as necessary.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with reinsurers, clients, colleagues and Marsh.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of reinsurer capability (product lines, capacity, approvals, etc.), with the help of Market Information Department, Legal Department and other departments as necessary.
- Document all external correspondence and telephone conversations in accordance with GC procedures, including where appropriate, GC Professional Standards guidelines minimizing the potential for errors and omissions.
- Update management on issues, progress, etc, regularly and upon request.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred plus 3-5 years related experience.
- Intermediary knowledge of insurance/reinsurance concepts and terms for developing and placing reinsurance programs, preparing placement slips and cover notes and drafting or amending new and existing contracts.
- Good interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good client, reinsurer and internal relationships.
- Good verbal and writing skills for complex communications (presentations, negotiations, etc.) with clients, markets and GC colleagues at many levels.
- Good ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
- Good ability to find creative solutions to new problems, as they arise.
- Good ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills for using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.
- Good ability to maintain compliance with professional standards, where applicable, as well as company-wide quality initiatives.
- Good ability to understand clients' business/industry.
- Good ability to work as part of a team to support clients' needs.
- Good ability to address client needs by accessing and organizing resources.
- Good ability to handle significant workflow through efficient time management.
- Good ability to challenge appropriately - supports case with facts and information.
- Good ability to seek ways to streamline and improve current processes.
- Good ability to possess technical knowledge/expertise as demonstrated by the ability to provide appropriate support to clients.
- Ability to travel, entertain, and attend meetings, up to 30% of the time.
