Position Summary As Associate Buyer, you?ll drive topline financial results for a product category. You?ll closely track new developments and trends in the market, keeping a relentless focus on competitive offering and pricing. You will also be responsible for achieving sales and margin plans through effective management of item and category forecasts to inventory ?Open-to-Buy?. You will analyze marketplace trends to determine new category related businesses to enter, as well as down-trending businesses to eliminate. Position Description Purchases merchandise for medium risk, medium volume categories by developing and planning seasonal merchandise assortments; identifying key item drivers; ensuring Walmart.com is at the forefront in new products; developing medium to long term strategies for category growth; making recommendations to the Buyer and Merchandise Manager; remaining current on competitive market positioning (for example, pricing and assortment); and projecting future market positioning. Manages and forecasts inventory to maximize sales and profit by reacting to business trends; managing bi-weekly open-to-buy (OTB); managing inventory; maintaining items in Merchandise Tool Suite (MTS); collaborating with Marketing and Site teams to promote key items; providing forecasts to suppliers; and providing seasonal direction on product and category information to the site team to maximize both conversion and average order size. Manages online item content integrity for multiple categories within a strategic business unit by working with copywriters and suppliers to manage content acquisition; overseeing the set-up of new items and item change maintenance; and overseeing the quality assurance process for items placed on live site. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and ensuring diversity awareness. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices. Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments for Merchandising by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.
