Our Mission The PCAOB is a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, accurate and independent audit reports. The PCAOB also oversees the audits of broker-dealers, including compliance reports filed pursuant to federal securities laws, to promote investor protection. Job Description The PCAOB has a full-time, regular position for an Associate Chief Auditor in the Office of the Chief Auditor at its Washington, DC headquarters office. The Office of the Chief Auditor advises the Board on the establishment of auditing and related professional practice standards. These standards include auditing standards for performing and reporting on audits of the financial statements and internal control over financial reporting of U.S. public companies, and related standards of independence, ethics, and quality control. Associate Chief Auditors will have a range of duties and responsibilities, and will interact with the Board, the Board's advisory groups, and external parties, including the SEC and FASB. Responsibilities * Standards Setting - Associate Chief Auditors will be expected to actively participate in drafting proposed standards and guidance, and in presenting and discussing issues related to such proposals with the Board, the Board's advisory group, other PCAOB staff, and other external parties. Associate Chief Auditors must have a thorough understanding of the auditing profession, including its strengths and weaknesses, and have an ability to anticipate issues and solve problems. Associate Chief Auditors will be expected to have a strong public interest focus, and understand the PCAOB's mission to protect the interests of investors. * Task Forces - Assistant Chief Auditors will be expected to actively participate in task forces composed of representatives from various groups including, but not limited to, investors and the accounting profession. * Direct and Supervise Assistant Chief Auditors - Associate Chief Auditors will have responsibility to direct and supervise the Assistant Chief Auditors. Ability to promote collaboration among team members and support a work environment that encourages others to ask questions and offer ideas. Ability to provide coaching and mentoring, and identify opportunities for staff development. Associate Chief Auditors will have the responsibility for goal setting and periodic performance evaluations. * Liaison to External Parties - Associate Chief Auditors will serve as principal staff liaison to one or more external groups or organizations. Associate Chief Auditors are responsible for developing and leveraging relationships. * Public Speaking - The PCAOB receives numerous requests to speak at conferences and other gatherings. Associate Chief Auditors will be expected to undertake PCAOB speaking opportunities, and demonstrate a strong knowledge of the subject matter. Speaking engagements will likely involve some travel. * Assist in Office Administration - Associate Chief Auditors will be expected to assist the Deputy Chief Auditor in the administration of the Office of the Chief Auditor.
