JPMorgan Chase Co. is seeking a candidate for the position of Associate Corporate Medical Director. Reporting to the Global Corporate Medical Director in Health Services, a division of the Benefits Department, this position will be based at Headquarters in New York, New York.
Current and Future Plans for the Department:
The Health Services Department currently consists of 20 clinics and a management team for a total of 42 health and administrative professionals, with a plan to increase to 29 clinics and 105 members of the department within the next 12-15 months.
Based upon a strategic analysis of benefits and wellness initiatives as well as utilization of medical benefits, JPMC embarked upon a major wellness initiative in 3Q10. The Health and Wellness Centers (clinics) are seen as one of the four major "pillars" essential to successfully inculcating a new culture of wellness. Significant resources have been reserved for the project.
The Role / Responsibilities:
The Associate Corporate Medical Director will work in conjunction with the Global Corporate Medical Director to oversee and implement comprehensive occupational health programs for 185,000 U.S.-based employees, and 65,000 international employees. The successful candidate will participate in policy and program development, strategic planning, implementation and standardization of policies for all U.S. domestic sites. The incumbent will provide leadership to medical staff, including the contract physicians and occupational health nurses, providing ongoing guidance to regional nurse managers and nursing supervisors and will ensure maintenance of quality, compliance and relationships. S/he will interface and provide guidance in regard to accommodation, drug testing, safety and environmental issues, as well as human resources professionals, emergency response providers, security, legal and outside medical providers. This position will have approximately 4 direct reports, with an overall management of a team of approximately 100 physicians, and will directly supervise and manage the corporate efforts in regard to acute care, occupational health and Health Wellness Center operations.
Additional representative responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
- Serve, with the Global Corporate Medical Director as a medical interface with corporate and operations personnel, safety, and environmental professionals, corporate benefits, human resources, security and legal departments. Ensure delivery of health risk planning and performance monitoring, professional advice and support to businesses and compliance monitoring.
- Provide direct oversight, monitor auditing of the clinical activities of the physician and nursing staff and provide clinical support as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with medical and health requirements mandated by OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies.
- Provide specialist occupational medicine, public and environmental health advice to managers and medical support teams; act as a subject matter expert in occupational medicine, public and environmental health; evaluate important occupational health issues, answer questions and actively participate in problem-solving.
- Assist in the identification of significant health risks and opportunities for mitigation.
- Work with the Head of Benefits, the Global Corporate Medical Director and the Global Wellness Manager to provide strategic support and advice and contribute to the development of the Company's health and wellness agenda (e.g., benefits redesign, health care cost-management strategies).
- Work with the CMD and our designated health care companies to establish and maintain a network of quality physician providers in the major areas in which we operate.
- Provide health consultation to management and appropriate individuals within the Company.
- Develop and/or manage implementation of special projects related to the medical services function, as directed by the global corporate medical director.
Experience / Qualifications:
- M.D. degree, active U.S. medical license (including New York) and Board Certification in Preventive and Occupational Medicine is preferred. Board certification in another primary care specialty is acceptable.
- Certified MRO
- A minimum of 7 to 10 years of corporate medical experience is required; experience working in the financial services industry is preferred.
- Superior leadership skills and demonstrated ability to manage a group of healthcare and allied healthcare professionals.
