Corporate Ratings Associate - SP Ratings Services

Standard Poor's Corporate Ratings expresses the agency's opinion about the ability and willingness of an issuer, such as a corporation, to meet its financial obligations in full and on time. Credit ratings can also speak to the credit quality of an individual debt issue, such as a corporate bond, and the relative likelihood that the issue may default. In addition, SP Corporate Credit Ratings provide a detailed opinion about a corporation's credit risk profile.

Associates hired into Corporate Ratings will be placed in industry groups where their responsibilities include the following:

· Meeting with and managing relationships with senior executives of Fortune 1000 companies
· Preparing credit analyses for rating committees
· Monitoring and responding to credit developments on a real-time basis
· Responding to inquiries from investors and media contacts
· Publishing topical commentaries and updating credit reports
· Speaking at industry conferences

Associates must demonstrate the ability to understand, apply and to communicate Standard Poor's Ratings methodology and to manage relationships with issuers, bankers, auditors, financial advisors and colleagues. A strong intellectual curiosity and the ability to respond to market changes or to offer creative financing solutions, as well as develop new products and risk models, are critical for advancement.

Skills

Candidates who are interested in the Associate position with Standard Poor's Corporate Ratings must possess the following qualifications:

· Completion of an MBA degree by December 2011
· Permanent work authorization for the United States is required.
· Proficiency in financial statement analysis
· Strong quantitative skills
· A well-developed business acumen
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· The ability and desire to publish analyses under deadline pressure
· Ability to negotiate effectively and to work well in a team setting
· Ability to multi-task and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
