Associate – Credit Analyst – Israel recruitment

We are looking for a highly skilled individual to join our Infrastructure Finance Ratings group as an experienced analyst at Associate level, based in our Israel office. The individual will join the Light Industries team and the role will include corporate analysis primarily focusing on covering Durable Consumer Goods and Real Estate credits.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant business related field, and possess the ability to undertake rigorous analytical work. You will be proficient at doing research and writing analytical reports with a track record of fundamental analysis. Understanding of the Consumer Goods / Real Estate market would be ideal but background in other sectors would be considered particularly where this has involved detailed credit analysis. An ability to quickly absorb, analyse and act upon information is required.

The individual will be able to demonstrate analytical excellence, and good presentation skills in front of internal and external audiences, and maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis. Moreover, you must demonstrate an ability to work at board level and represent Standard Poor's in a highly professional manner to global investors. You will be required to prepare and perform meetings with multi-national, senior management teams but also to undertake site visits to local projects, to extract and assess information relating to credit quality and to explain our credit rating opinions. Strong presentation and organizational skills are also required to present detailed information and reasoned opinions to our credit rating committees.
Core Responsibilities and Job Functions
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly pick up credit surveillance on a rating portfolio workload of between 15 to 20 credits.
- Perform credit analysis by demonstrating the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect an issuer's credit rating.
- Analyze original, non-routine complex business problems in a timely, orderly and insightful manner.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues.
- Participate in the development of new, and revisions to existing, criteria in project finance.
- Take responsibility for the co-ordination of surveillance, publishing of industry report cards, undertaking speaking engagements etc.
- Take responsibility for ratings as a primary analyst with minimal supervision.
- Take responsibility for undertaking various time sensitive engagements to meet client bid deadlines
- In undertaking analysis to work closely with staff from other teams as well as the legal department to ensure a co-ordinated approach to clients.
- Act as backup analyst as required by team leader, attending meetings in support of colleagues, providing cover for colleagues who are temporarily unavailable due to holidays or business travel.
- Actively participate in rating committees for the industries/sectors covered.
- Attend meetings and interact with senior management of corporations, project sponsors etc. to obtain information upon which to base credit rating decisions.
- Present findings and opinions to a credit rating committee.
- Prepare a variety of material suitable for publication on Standard Poor's credit portal and other media (such as rating reports, press releases, and detailed commentaries) sufficient to disseminate and explain our ratings on a timely basis.
- Perform periodic portfolio reviews in conjunction with the rest of the team.
- Perform recovery ratings, demonstrating knowledge of criteria and methodology and perform recovery analysis.
- Participate actively as a member in the Global and Regional Industry Focus Teams and related publishing and investor outreach activities.
- Participate in seminars and investor outreach opportunities as required.
- Demonstrate knowledge to cover several industries/sectors.
- Prepare commentaries/papers on areas of expertise for publication
- Share specific analytical expertise, any useful know how, and ideas to improve group operations.
- Be an analytical role model for junior analysts.
- Maintain integrity of analytical or compliance related databases as appropriate.
Skills
- Be educated to degree level in a relevant business related field, a relevant Masters degree, CFA or financial qualification would be desirable
- Be fluent in English, other languages would be an advantage
- Be an excellent team player
- Fluent Hebrew
- Have strong analytical skills in particular with reference to the ability to interpret and use financial models as well as to analyse legal documentation
- Be intelligent and highly motivated
- Be numerate and accurate with figures and detail orientated with the ability to maintain accuracy whilst complying with deadlines
- Be able to work under pressure in order to meet the bid deadlines of clients
- Be computer literate having strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills. Ability to prepare forecasts based upon reasoned assumptions will be required.
