Department overview
The team supports Markit’s core data products, including the Markit CDS pricing service - an industry benchmark for CDS pricing data used by over 500 institutions for mark-to-market, risk control and research. The team also manages the Markit CDX and Markit iTraxx family of indices, which are some of the most actively traded products in the credit derivatives market.
Other areas of involvement include CDS clearing, CDS compression and the administration of Credit Event Auctions.
Position summary
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious recent graduate to become part of a leading, global financial services company while gaining valuable credit derivative experience. The successful candidate will form a key part of the Fixed Income team responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of Markit’s core CDS data products and services as well as supporting the questions and requests of our clients.
Working closely with other functions within the wider Fixed Income team – Product Management, Business Analysis and Technology – the role will also include initiating process improvements and enhancing the CDS product offering.
The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in New York and Delhi.
Duties accountabilities
- Operational maintenance of Markit’s various CDS data products.
- Provision of client support for the core CDS data products and services.
- Identification of opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Undertaking data quality improvement initiatives.
- Providing technical support for both clients and internal groups – eg, explaining data cleaning algorithms.
- Assisting product managers with ad hoc data analysis.
- User-acceptance testing on new or enhanced product functionality.
Business competencies
Education and experience
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance or Business preferred. Candidates with more technical backgrounds will also be considered.
- Knowledge of Excel / VBA / SQL is preferable, but not essential.
Commercial awareness
- Must have general interest in financial markets, and be keen to expand knowledge of derivatives.
- Knowledge of credit derivatives desirable.
