Associate Director – Loan Management recruitment
The successful candidate will serve as Loan Asset Manager in support of MetLife Real Estate Investment’s approximate $3 billion commercial mortgage portfolio in Florida and Puerto Rico. The individual will be utilized for loan asset management, financial analysis, underwriting, and special projects relating to existing and new commercial mortgage transactions including office, retail, industrial, multi-family and hotel projects, among others.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Loan asset management and servicing matters including loan payoffs and prepayments, tenant estoppels and subordination agreement reviews, transfers, lease abstracts and reviews, SNDA’s, reserves and escrows, easements, tracking financial information and other borrower requests
- Support mortgage originators on new and refinance transactions and assist with documentation and closing of loans and post-closing items
- Coordinate and assist with mortgage modifications, extensions, loan transfers and restructures
- Team effectively with Mortgage Production Specialists, third-party servicers and legal counsel to resolve loan management issues including risk management and insurance matters
- Formulate and execute strategies for potential problem loans and note sale programs and workouts
- Coordinate and assist with mortgage compliance initiatives
- Coordinate and manage construction loan draw requests, earn-outs and capital requests
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Mortgage ratings including financial analysis, underwriting, and valuation of the underlying commercial real estate
- Property inspections
- Track required reporting (e.g. income projections, general authorizations)
- Coordinate due diligence and data collection efforts
- Research markets, industry, and financial data in support of loan transactions
- Handle special projects related to commercial real estate investment activities
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate finance, MBA a plus
- Eight (8) plus years relevant experience in commercial real estate with demonstrated understanding of commercial real estate valuations and loan management activities
- Strong computer skills including in-depth knowledge of Argus and Excel models
- Team oriented with strong work ethic and solid time management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to negotiate and work with legal counsel
- Excellent knowledge of loan documents, including leases, SNDA’s, notes, mortgages, and loan agreements.
