Associate Director
Summary of Position Responsibilities:
This position within our regional investment office has primary responsibility to underwrite and monitor corporate and government credit in both high grade and high yield markets throughout Latin America. Given the broader range of responsibilities and activities performed by this office, it may also require flexibility to handle other asset classes such as structured finance, infrastructure, private placements and private equity.
Investments are held both in our US emerging markets portfolio as well as international subsidiaries with a focus in Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Managed assets exceed 22 bn spread over approximately 300 names. The position offers an opportunity to work and grow alongside a talented group of approximately 10 professionals led by the Head of Credit for Latin America.
Dimensions of Position:
- Primary coverage responsibility over 40/50 names across different sectors
- Underwriting of new names
- Key role in asset origination in the office
Principal Accountabilities of Position:
- Cover assigned names/sectors for the fixed income portfolio (~$2.0 bn).
- Deliver superior credit performance, including avoiding credit losses, downgrades, fallen angels, etc. Be ahead of the market and agencies.
- Comply with the annual review calendar
- Assist local subsidiaries in meeting their business plans and with special projects
- Build and strengthen internal (head office, local subsidiaries) and external (portfolio companies, banks, rating agencies, analysts) relationships
Job Requirements
- Sound credit skills and business judgment.
- Be able to work independently.
- Results oriented.
- Strong interpersonal relationships.
- Attitude of cooperation and teamwork. Keep relevant people informed.
- Knowledge of current events/trends impacting business issues (ie, macro-economical, socio-political, industry, etc)
- English language and presentation (oral and written) skills.
- Knowledge of Spanish highly preferable
- Portuguese also a plus
- CFA or MBA preferred
- Prior credit experience
