Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust is a high performing Acute Trust which provides acute and emergency hospital services to a local population of 380,000 and hyper acute stroke, vascular and renal services to the whole of Northamptonshire, a population of 684,000. The Trust is also an accredited Cancer Centre delivering cancer services to a wider population of 880,000 to the whole of Northamptonshire, and parts of Buckinghamshire. We also provide services at Danetre Hospital in Daventry, Isebrook Hospital in Wellingborough, Corby Community Hospital, Camelot Way and Weston Favell Health Centre.

We are now looking for a highly motivated individual with substantial previous experience within an Income and Commissioning environment. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the financial negotiations with CCG and to play a fundamental role in the agreement of 2013/2014 contracts. With overall responsibility for the Commissioning, Income and Costing department in Northamptonshire you will be responsible for the financial aspects of all income and be the leading expert on Payment by Results providing advice and guidance to the Trust senior management.

The Associate Director of Income Commissioning will possess a combination of the following attributes:

• A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with strong accounting knowledge
• Display an in depth knowledge of the NHS financial regime, including payment by results, standard NHS contract and the impact on Trust income
• A committed self-starter with excellent communication skills both orally and on paper
Able to time manage effectively, prioritise and deliver to agreed deadlines
• Be the key finance and commissioning link to all financial and commissioning aspects of the Trust relationship with Clinical Commissioning Groups
• To provide expert financial advice and support regarding all financial and Payment by Results (PbR) aspects of the Trust clinical commissioner contracts and be the lead finance representative on all contract negotiations, ensuring all internal and external targets are met.
• To be a finance expert with respect to secondary care commissioning, including a thorough understanding of PbR guidance and commissioning datasets and to possess a detailed knowledge of the NHS Standard Contract and other relevant guidance. Development and delivery of relevant training and all commissioning and contracting matters to the wider Trust organisation.
• To lead and manage the Income and Commissioning Team, and Private and Overseas Patients teams ensuring key requirements are delivered accurately and on time internally and externally.
