Purpose of Position
 
The Associate Director will work in conjunction with the Business Development team to enhance ConvaTec's value through acquisitions, licenses and other inorganic investments and partnerships by:
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Business Development Strategy
¨       Participates in the development and execution of ConvaTec's  business development strategies
¨       Works with ConvaTec functional areas and external advisors to identify and evaluate candidates for acquisition or license
¨       Cultivate, evaluate, diligence, structure, negotiate and successfully close transactions
¨       Participate in the management of the deal process externally and investment process internally
¨       Works collaboratively to adapt global MA strategy to address regional / local opportunities and objectives
¨       Monitors and understands business development strategies and activities of key competitors
Driving Execution
 
  Analyze complicated issues, identify key points, develop action plans and bring to a successful conclusion
  Evaluates licensing opportunities and alternatives from a product development perspective by integrating complex data from commercial, scientific, legal and financial perspectives
  Initiates and conducts extensive negotiations with external partners or targets to successfully meet the needs of deal parties
  Oversee and ensure the quality of diligence activities and recommendations
  Helps drive the organization to agree and focus on strategic business development and licensing priorities
  Prioritize on a real time basis and be able to influence peers and superiors
  Will display and operate in a way that never compromises ethics and integrity
Shaping external environment
¨       Strengthens and improves the images of CVT with external partners, investors, advisors, etc.
¨       Helps develop network of contacts and communicates company business development strategies to help drive deal identification and flow
Operational effectiveness

¨       Facilitates the continuous improvement of business development processes and procedures
¨       Develops relationships with external brokers, advisors and business development lead from other Medical Device organizations

¨       Works with functional leaders and representatives to help prioritize projects and ensure alignment with company priorities

Experience and Knowledge Desired:
 
¨       A minimum of 6-8 years of managerial experience with responsibility for business development activities, including licensing and MA projects
¨       Strong quantitative and analytical skills
¨       International experience a plus, although not necessary
¨       Experience in operations, finance/accounting or legal a positive
¨       Management experience in leading / designing and managing high performing teams
¨       Experience of working collaboratively and efficiently in matrix organisations
¨       Operates with a high level of autonomy
 
Education:
 
¨       Master's degree - MBA - Finance preferred
 
Knowledge:
 
¨       Overall knowledge of the Medical Device Industry, including  more in depth knowledge around healthcare systems, reimbursement, regulatory pathways and competitor landscape
¨       Good knowledge of all General Management functions including Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Regulatory, Legal, etc.
