Associate Director, Business Development recruitment
Principal Duties:
Strategic Market Analysis
- Evaluate and prioritize target markets and segments in Asia to help meet the firm’s growth plans in the region
- Develop priority target client lists in attractive segments
- Gather intelligence on key competitors in Asia and determine tailored positioning vis a vis these competitors
- Identify areas where C|A's marketing approach, service options and pricing may need to be customized to better meet the needs of our Asia-Pacific client base and/or to improve C|A's competitive positioning in Asia-Pacific
Marketing and New Business Development
- Field and screen prospective client calls to determine fit for CA. Attend selected prospective client meetings as a representative of Cambridge Associates
- Track prospect activities and provide bi-weekly updates to management
- Assist in the development and refinement of Asia-specific content for our marketing materials. Materials include presentation templates, letters and proposals to prospective clients, Requests for Proposals, and brochures
- Work with consultants to tailor presentations, determine appropriate service/pricing approach as well as coaching consultants on how to be most effective in their presentation (i.e., key selling points against the known competitors)
- Oversee the RFP and proposal process in Asia, leveraging staff in the office
- Track win-loss statistics and evaluate effectiveness of efforts
- Devise and implement specific marketing programs and strategies for acquiring new clients in Asia, including leveraging of US executive visits in the region (events, prospect visits, etc.)
- Assist CRM in the execution of retention and development activities with existing clients
PR and Brand Awareness
- Identify opportunities to raise CA profile and brand awareness in Asia. This would include identifying and securing speaking roles at key conferences and identifying PR opportunities (e.g., press releases, by-lined articles, Op-Ed, blogs, etc) and coordinate with outside PR firm (currently Sommerfield communications) and CA experts
- Provide input into the Asia media list to make sure complete and up to date
Client Relationship Management
- Analyze trend data to evaluate needs of clients as well as product development areas for the firm
- Participate in semi-annual meetings with consultants (“client reviews”) to discuss to their client relationships (risk status, staffing needs, organizational changes, investment activities)
- Identify and monitor clients that are at risk of terminating their relationship with Cambridge Associates
- Prioritize relationship management activities and develop process to ensure that follow-up activities are completed
- Participate in client outreach program (client surveys, calls, on-site and firm visits) with Cambridge Associates senior management, consultant team, or other firm representatives
- Communicate with the client consulting teams all client feedback and any specialized projects in response to client inquiries and interests
- Inform and partner with consultant training program
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of institutional investment marketplace and investment management principles
- 5-10 years prior Marketing or New Business Development and client relations experience
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Very strong communication skills with demonstrated writing skills
- Ability to professionally represent Cambridge Associates externally
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize responsibilities
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Asian business language capability a plus
- BA/BS required. MBA or CFA a plus
