Associate Director – Marketing, S&P Capital IQ recruitment
We have an exciting new opening in our SP Capital IQ division for an Associate Director, Marketing, SP Capital IQ. This position is critical and instrumental in advancing the business unit's marketing strategy that aims to contribute to the achievement of the SP CIQ business unit's goals and objectives. In addition; develop, plan, implement and manage SP Capital IQ's (SP CIQ) global marketing activities to support the product/service portfolio, with emphasis on managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the local marketing team. Working closely with the business, product, sales and sales operations teams, this position will have complete ownership for the development and execution of appropriate marketing objectives, strategies, and tactics for assigned portions of the SP CIQ product/service portfolio.
Key marketing objectives include:
- Generating high quality leads for Sales, increasing awareness of our brand and capabilities, and retaining existing customers. Incumbent is ultimately accountable for improving key business metrics for SP CIQ Marketing such as campaign response rates, event attendance rates, feedback scores, quality of leads, thought leadership awareness, and new content/product/service introduction and adoption.
- Will lead the promotion of SP CIQ's full range of capabilities (content, platforms and tools), with emphasis on the fixed income, data, credit, risk, commercial lending, counterparty assessment, valuations, and leveraged loan capabilities of SP CIQ.
- Will also manage SP CIQ's external online/web presence and lead the electronic marketing efforts of the SP CIQ business unit, ensuring that "best practices" are being followed and strategically placing and highlighting SP CIQ content via appropriate online vehicles.
- A focus will be on ensuring SP CIQ and Ratings Services thought leadership and content is appropriately highlighted on our SP CIQ Web properties (i.e., Global Credit Portal/RatingsDirect, SP CIQ Platform and SP.com).
- Will be a major contributor in planning and executing the following priority SP CIQ marketing activities: SP CIQ-hosted events; thought leadership webinars; lead generating campaigns; and education on risk-driven investment analysis.
Essential Accountability
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the marketing team, including overseeing and developing staff, prioritizing workflow, defining and assigning projects, managing project status, removing work obstacles, resolving work-related conflicts, etc. Emphasis is on defining, scoping, assigning, and prioritizing marketing projects to meet the goals of the business unit.
- Develop, secure approval, and manage annual marketing plans and associated budgets. Proactively develop, plan and execute integrated marketing programs for the purpose of achieving the strategic marketing objectives of SP CIQ. Focus will be on integrated marketing programs designed to help build brand awareness, promote capabilities, stimulate product usage, and drive customer acquisition and retention for all SP CIQ products and services.
- Manage the marketing of SP CIQ's external-facing training curriculum and certification program, with the goal of securing the optimal number of paying students. Incumbent will be responsible for marketing the program to profitability and success by: controlling costs, setting appropriate pricing and discount strategies, securing first-time and repeat students, developing and nurturing an alumni community and appropriately communicating the value and relevance of the program.
- Select the most appropriate online vehicle, timing, and duration for strategic content placement online, by monitoring market dynamics, SP CIQ thought leadership building initiatives, and SP CIQ product commercialization priorities. Manage web content assets so as to provide relevant and timely information to SP CIQ user constituencies and create compelling repeat destinations of our Web properties. Responsible for making editorial decisions regarding what SP CIQ and Ratings Services content will be highlighted on SP CIQ Web properties including the Global Credit Portal/RatingsDirect, SP CIQ Platform and SP.com.
- Develop and coordinate an ongoing process for all Web posting activities for SP CIQ products and services. Working through the Web content managers, update and maintain all content that is posted by the SP CIQ business unit, keeping SP.com and the SP CIQ intranet marketing pages up-to-date on respective product lines and capabilities.
- Provide analysis of the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and measure against industry benchmarks. Compile, analyze and present marketing campaign/program results to management. Utilize systems (i.e., Salesforce.com, Eloqua, LCMS, PIMS) to measure marketing campaign effectiveness including ROI, leads analysis, expense tracking, and web metrics.
- Provide ideas, input and support to the SP CIQ SVP and VP of Marketing in conceptualizing, developing and implementing global marketing strategies to achieve SP CIQ business and marketing objectives and sales targets.
- Evaluate new marketing opportunities and techniques. Recommend and implement improved marketing processes to enhance customer experiences, marketing effectiveness, and operational efficiency (i.e., campaign management, contact management, and project management).
- Gather client insight, comments and suggestions on our products and services through the sales group, via direct customer contact at events, from client training visits, and through surveys and market focus groups. Report the feedback to the relevant internal parties.
Skills
- A minimum of 10 years of marketing experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
- 7+ years creating and managing to detailed marketing programs and budgets, creative problem solving, expedient follow-up, display of leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A strong ability to work closely with various cross-functional groups.
- Experience with online, database, and interactive marketing as well as in classic marketing.
- Must have a strong understanding of the financial information services space and remain linked into market leaders and trends. Solid understanding of the delivery of information and data through multiple media and platforms. Knowledge and experience in financial product sales, project management and/or product development/management a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in marketing, finance, business management, information systems or communications a plus; advanced degree (MBA/MS) a plus.
- Excellent computer literacy a must including Microsoft Office skills (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Additional experience and skills to include: collaborating with professional level staff positions; creating and controlling marketing budgets; strategic planning; strong ability to work with senior management in developing, organizing and implementing strategic marketing objectives and tactical plans; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
