Associate Director Tax-Exempt Housing recruitment
Standard Poor's Public Finance is seeking an Associate Director for the Tax-Exempt Housing Group in either the San Francisco, CA or New York, NY office.
Associate Directors are responsible for covering credits on both a new issue and surveillance basis; this includes preparing credit analysis for the rating committee, publishing ratings rationales and credit analyses, and conducting surveillance.
Associate Director must demonstrate the ability to understand, apply and communicate Standard Poor's Ratings methodology and to manage relationships with issuers, bankers, auditors, financial advisors, and colleagues.
Essential Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:
Under the direction and guidance of assigned Management, the Associate Director will perform some or all of the following:
• Develop research, analytical and reporting skills and a strong understanding of the debt rating methodology and standards essential for active participation in SP debt rating activities;
• Assemble pertinent financial, technical and ancillary data essential to SP debt rating activities;
• Inform issuers of Rating Committee's decisions and explain rating rationale;
• Participate in Rating Committee meeting prior to voting, as assigned;
• Prepare research and make recommendations to the Rating Committee;
• Contact debt issuers, or their representatives, for necessary information;
• Participate in meetings and on-site visits with debt issuers and their representatives, as assigned;
• In accordance with departmental policies, review prior debt ratings at prescribed intervals and recommends appropriate action to the Rating Committee Board;
• Prepare material/commentaries for publication.

Qualifications include, but are not limited to the following:
• A graduate degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting (requirement)
• Experience in the municipal housing industry (preferred)
• Proficiency in financial statement analysis (requirement)
• Strong verbal communication skills (requirement)
• Strong analytical skills (requirement)
• The ability to work well in teams (requirement)
• Customer Service orientation (requirement)
• The ability to organize, meet deadlines and to multi-task (requirement)
• Good problem solving skills (requirement)
• Equivalent work experience may be substituted in place of a graduate degree
