Associate Engineer or Higher

Position Description:
Minnesota Energy Resources, a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, is currently recruiting for an Associate Engineer or Higher for our office in Rochester, MN. This position reports to the Manager, Engineering and is regularly on-call during off hours.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, estimate, and manage the construction of new gas facilities. Develop specific work orders as needed and assist Designers in the preparation of work orders. Review project economics and apply appropriate gas extension rules and interpretations. Manage construction and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with job plans standards and procedures. Work in conjunction with Gas Engineering to develop future distribution system plans and budgets.
- Communicate and work with customers, trade allies, construction personnel, and governmental agencies regarding natural gas, natural gas service, and natural gas distribution issues. Apply state and local codes related to gas distribution safety. Apply and enforce Minnesota Energy Resources (MERC) policies related to gas service and safety. Assist commercial marketing representative and designers in determining the locations for new facilities, scheduling outages for maintenance, and installation and repair of gas facilities. Work with appropriate governmental agencies in the coordination of gas facilities construction, maintenance and repair.
- Evaluate new and existing commercial and industrial service applications for new and/or changing gas loads. Calculate the impact of additional loads on the system. Determine proper service sizes. Size and design meter sets for appropriate loads. Review for approval requested delivery pressures. Complete gas application and large meter check sheets with appropriate engineering data. Supervise the installation of regulation and metering equipment according to company standards and procedures.
- Provide technical expertise and assistance to field personnel. Assist coordinator with the preparation of work schedules. Train and instruct various personnel on technical gas subjects. Assist in the preparation and development of the construction and maintenance budgets. Assist in the development and review local emergency procedures. Work in conjunction with Gas Engineering to develop new work procedures and methods.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with standard computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with specialty computer applications (GIS, MS Project, Work Management Systems, etc.).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with Project Management.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with system design, planning and estimating.
