Associate, Equities Sales & Trading Desk Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY/OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
RBC Capital Markets is a leading international investment dealer.Due to exciting growth and tremendous global success, an opportunity exists for the position of Associate, Equities Sales Trading Desk Assistant within the global equities team at RBC Capital Markets based in Sydney. The successful candidate will preferably have experience in stockbroking/financial markets, possess strong financial acumen, demonstrate an ability to undertake market and industry analysis, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and be ambitious to succeed within a leading international investment dealer. The successful candidate will work in a small, experienced and highly motivated Sydney-based team, reporting to the Head of Australian Equities. This is an entry level role/junior role which will suit a recent graduate.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Effort will be focused on the following deliverables:
- Provide support to the equities sales trading desk as required
- Prepare material for morning meeting
- Participate in and assist with morning comments including overnight markets
- Support and answer client queries
- Assist in preparation of morning and afternoon notes
- Monitor client orders and report to clients status of trades and end of day fills
- Update and maintain client relationship management system
- Assist and generate reports and presentations
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in Commerce, Business, Finance and/or Economics is a prerequisite
- Will consider MBA, CA/CPA, CFA (or progress towards CFA) qualifications, however candidates should take into account that this is an Associate/Junior entry level position
- Superior customer service focus for internal and external clients
- Strong work ethic (self-starter), commitment to task and an attention to detail
- Professional business writing, communication and presentation skills are a must
- Ability to prioritise work, multi-task responsibilities; perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
- Good inter-personal skills and the ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment
- Sound understanding of financial/stock markets
- Advanced Excel and MS Office applications

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Long working hours in the office
- After hours liaison with other global RBC trading desks
- The position has an above average amount of stress
