JOB PURPOSE
Provide finance business support and financial analysis to the Strategy Corporate Development Group by: a) Performing detailed high quality, insightful, and timely analysis of financial, management, and portfolio performanceb) Measuring the performance of the businesses relative to established benchmarks and provide insight regarding the financial and management accounting resultsc) Providing advice to the business leaders to support initiatives associated with reaching performance goals Key Accountabilities / Activities:
Provide high quality service, reporting, financial analysis for the Strategy Corporate Development group regarding management reporting, business performance, accurate forecasting and key strategic investment portfolio monitoring. The position is responsible for providing Finance Business Support functions for Strategy Corporate Development.
Major Activities Responsibilities include:
- Provide financial and management reporting, financial analysis and prepare forecasting and planning
- Work with Finance to ensure the accuracy of financial results
- Provide financial support for strategic initiatives
- Prepare a d hoc analysis/projects and reporting as required
Prepare the quarterly latest estimates and annual planning:
- Liaise and coordinate with Wealth Management finance for Strategic Investment inputs
- Liaise with various 3rd party contacts of Key Strategic Investments
- Build or maintain the forecasting models to ensure they are structured to deliver the results efficiently and reasonably
- Ensure timely and accurately upload to the planning system.
- Analyze results to compare variances and drivers
Report, monitor and analyze the results of the business and provide insights for opportunities to improve business performance, such as revenue generation and expense control. Assist in the preparation of the annual strategic plan. Monitor and report the progress of the strategic initiatives. Assist in the coordination of the enhanced oversight process for Key Strategic Investment monitoring in order to track the progress of each key investment and facilitate knowledge transfer to various members of the Strategy Corporate Development Committee. Assist in the development, production and maintenance of vital financial information and data analysis.
- Assists the business with monitoring the financial and non-financial performance of Key Strategic Investments
- Maintain updates to revenue database
Skills / Knowledge / Education requirements:
- A professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
- Understanding and knowledge of CIBC’s complex financial systems and the ability to identify, extract and use information an asset
- A high degree of technical competence in financial management
- Strong financial, analytical, judgmental and conceptual skills
- Adept at working within complex environments at many levels of the organization
- Maintaining a good understanding of all business activities of CIBC as well as current financial trends and issues in order to:
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with senior business leaders and senior finance personnel
- Superior presentation skills to summarize detailed and complex financial information to varied audiences
- Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team
- Able to manage multiple activities of varying complexity while under time constraints
- High degree of flexibility, adaptability and creativity required, give a constantly changing environment
