Associate, Fixed Income Portfolio Manager and Strategist
The Fixed Income Strategist and Portfolio Manager works with colleagues to be collectively responsible for:
- Managing all aspects of British Isles Fixed Income investment delivery within the relevant regulatory framework, RBC policies and procedures and best practices.
- Managing British Isles fixed income portfolio models and supporting bespoke and customised fixed income solutions for Ultra High Net worth clients. The job also requires initiation of the overall fixed income capability including trades and idea generation.
- Supporting distribution and business development initiative internally and in client facing situation when required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
High Level:
- Support the Head of Fixed Income British Isles and deputize in his absence.
- Maintain British Isles DIM Discretionary bond models and related collateral.
- Manage assigned client portfolios in accordance with mandates.
- Support Distribution (Relationship Managers) and Business Development (BD).
- Support training initiatives and work as a team on the British Isles Fixed Income committee.
- Support the Fixed Income Team on investment strategies and portfolio idea generations
Detailed Requirements of Role:
- Comprehensive understanding and appreciation of RBC’s investment product suit in both discretionary and advisory offerings.
- Understanding and appreciation of RBC’s investment philosophies and processes
- Represent BI investment Management team and/or the Fixed Income team where appropriate in client facing and internal business situations
- Maintaining the BI Discretionary Fixed Income Models to maximise performance within mandates. Propose and implement changes.
- Assist in bespoke fixed income mandates to maximise performance within mandates. Propose and implement changes.
- Assist with producing periodic fixed income materials and commentary, including performance statistics to use as collateral
- Assist in keeping fixed income white lists updated according to mandate, house views and market conditions
- Maintain a professional level of understanding of the fixed income markets including day to day developments, and reflect any material market information to the fixed income team and assist in implementing market trends to House Views.
- Assist with finding replacement ideas for upcoming maturities as well as changes to investment views.
- Supporting investment advisors with fixed income mandates on ideas, market updates and technical factors in the fixed income market.
- Managing portfolios as a fixed income manager and adhere to the fixed income desk investment process framework construction.
- As a discretionary fixed income manager, adhere to the BI DIM segregated fixed income models and safeguard that portfolios are within mandate and meeting objectives.
- Provide performance analysis on accounts under management as well as provide or prepare presentation materials for client including bespoke reporting and valuations.
- Ensure all requests for information are carried out efficiently and in a professional manner.
- Assist in fixed income specific proposal generation and collaborate with Investment Consultants, Proposal Delivery Team, Investment Specialists, Advisors, Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers when required.
- Initiate, developing and supporting new capabilities on the fixed income desk.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Required
- FCA Registered/TC2/CF30
- RDR qualification compliant
- High level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Bloomberg, in house trading and valuation systems.
- Economics/Finance related university degree level qualification and a strong interest to develop expertise in Fixed Income and relevant instruments.
- Industry qualification (e.g. CFA, IMC, IAD or PCIAM).
- Client facing investment management experience
Preferred
- SEC Series 65
- Private client or Institutional Fixed income money management investment experience
- Fixed income research experience
