Vacancy Programme Details

Our 2 year Rotation Programme is primarily based on live work, operating in placements through both Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) and Global Capital Markets (GCM) - spending a minimum of nine months in each. The overall aim of our programme is to provide key skills and knowledge in a number of banking sectors, with a view to our then offering you a permanent contract at the end of the programme in a role that best suits both your natural competencies and the Bank’s active recruitment needs.

Training is a key focus of the programme. You will be invited to attend the Banks Capital Ideas course, a three week residential programme based in Toronto which focuses on product knowledge, in addition to analytical and modelling skills.  Where possible, your progression through the Bank will be tailored to integrate feedback from Capital Ideas, and any prior work history you may have, to add the most value to the business and offer you the best opportunity to excel. Additionally, the Bank is willing to fund your FSA examinations whilst on rotation.

Progress through the Bank will ultimately be fluid, and dependant upon the workload and requirements of the individual desks. At a minimum, your time in Global Capital Markets will cover time in our Foreign Exchange (FX) and Treasury teams, our Equities desk and Rates Trading (Fixed Income), and our ScotiaMocatta business, covering the commodities market.

Within the Global Corporate and Investment banking world, the intention is to focus on the competencies and analytical skills involved within that division, with an emphasis on credit modelling and the document due diligence process. However, after a period of product training, the opportunity to assist on the relationship management aspects inherent in the field of Corporate Banking will arise. The aim is to deliver a broader insight into the intricacies of managing business relationships; on how best to cross sell products between the corporate banking divisions, portfolio analysis and sourcing business opportunities from a client base.

At the end of the two year contract, you’ll be permanently placed in a role that best suits your natural competencies and the Bank’s active recruitment needs.
